I saw this film for the first time when it was in the cinemas at Portugal. I was very young and I really enjoyed it. The adventures, the cast, the plot, the ending, and all the climax were really exciting. After a few years, I stumbled onto it on my local video store, and in a day I watched it another five times. Later, I bought a copy, and since that day I watch it very often. My greatest hope is that Rich Donner will do a sequel with the same cast (much older) but still a good cast. "The Goonies" was the the film my brother, sister and I watched everyday of the holidays as children, we played on our bikes, made up maps, made camps, tried to invent cool contraptions and always went looking for treasure. This film captures the essence of childhood, when you believed in miracles, had no fear and thought you could do anything. The film although made twenty years ago hasn't aged in a bad way at all, however it does manage to show just how bad the so called kids adventure films of today really are. "The Goonies" requires kids to use their imagination and to pretend. No matter how many times you see this film it doesn't get old, I still want to be a "Goonie" it's for the child in all of us and I always feel nostalgic seeing it again. If you are going to watch this movie, do yourself a favour get it on DVD. Do not watch it on television the film is always cut to shreds and parts of it do not make sense, besides it's one you should really own. If only they still made films of this quality with this much magic.

I bought the storybook way back then too. I've seen the movie a dozen times on different cable networks, and tonight I caught it on TBS. This time I saw it was different; there was a scene in a convenience store that was told about in my storybook as well as Data having trouble with his Spy Eyes and Pinchers of Peril before they entered the restaurant; both things I've never seen before. How come suddenly I'm seeing this different version on TV? Is this new to all of you too? Are these extras on the DVD? I've already read your posts on the Octopus; but it's still on as I'm typing so I haven't seen that yet.
